The Look of Love (The Sullivans #1)

Cover-1-The-Look-Of-Love

So I had recently read the 5th book in this series and absolutely loved it. I knew I would have to read the rest of the series. I was lucky enough to find this novel in a used book store. Here is the back cover of this novel provided by Goodreads: Chloe Peterson is having a bad night. A really bad night. The large bruise on her cheek can attest to that. And when her car skids off the side of a wet country road straight into a ditch, she’s convinced even the gorgeous guy who rescues her in the middle of the rain storm must be too good to be true. Or is he?
As a successful photographer who frequently travels around the world, Chase Sullivan has his pick of beautiful women, and whenever he’s home in San Francisco, one of his seven siblings is usually up for causing a little fun trouble. Chase thinks his life is great just as it is—until the night he finds Chloe and her totaled car on the side of the road in Napa Valley. Not only has he never met anyone so lovely, both inside and out, but he quickly realizes she has much bigger problems than her damaged car. Soon, he is willing to move mountains to love—and protect—her, but will she let him?
Chloe vows never to make the mistake of trusting a man again. Only, with every loving look Chase gives her—and every sinfully sweet caress—as the attraction between them sparks and sizzles, she can’t help but wonder if she’s met the only exception. And although Chase didn’t realize his life was going to change forever in an instant, amazingly, he isn’t the least bit interested in fighting that change. Instead, he’s gearing up for a different fight altogether…for Chloe’s heart.

I thought this novel was very interesting and I absolutely loved reading it. I thought the storyline was interesting. Two people met on a rainy day on the side of the road, how could they not fall in love. I felt for Chloe’s life and all her hardships. I thought her character was great. She was very personable and made me root for her. Chase was fantastic and I really hope that his personality exists. He is just what she needs and very mature. I would have to say he was much more mature than I have seen in other books. I still enjoyed their chemistry.

As for the sex, it was steamy from the first few pages. I thought the sex was great and really showed all the emotional components. This was not sex for the sake of sex but really a growth of their relationship. This novel, however, did not really have any conflict, I thought that it could have used a tiny bit more but it was still good without it.

Overall, I give this novel 4 out 5. I loved it and will definitely read it again. If you loved this novel please read the rest in this series. Also Jami Alden is a great writer if you loved novel set in the bay area, I would recommend Taste of Honey.
