Magic Slays (Kate Daniels #5)

I had no idea that this series was written by a husband and wife. It’s written by two people. Interesting. I am officially more intrigued. Of course by now you know what this series is about. I mean, hopefully you have read my last four reviews. Here is a brief summary of the novel provided by Goodreads: Plagued by a war between magic and technology, Atlanta has never been so deadly. Good thing Kate Daniels is on the job.
Kate Daniels may have quit the Order of Merciful Aid, but she’s still knee-deep in paranormal problems. Or she would be if she could get someone to hire her. Starting her own business has been more challenging than she thought it would be—now that the Order is disparaging her good name, and many potential clients are afraid of getting on the bad side of the Beast Lord, who just happens to be Kate’s mate.
So when Atlanta’s premier Master of the Dead calls to ask for help with a vampire on the loose, Kate leaps at the chance of some paying work. Turns out this is not an isolated incident, and Kate needs to get to the bottom of it—fast, or the city and everyone dear to her might pay the ultimate price . . .

Yay! The Beast Lord and Kate have finally gotten together, however that doesn’t guarantee a happily ever after. If anything that guarantees more drama. Kate has never had an easy life and in this novel more truth about her past becomes known. not all of it is good… okay none of it is good and now her world has been turned completely upside down. Kate needs to prepare for her final battle with her father. Very tragic. This was an interesting novel because it deals with psyche of the mind and how fanatics will see things. Very interesting. I wont give any more away because I personally hate spoilers. You will just have to read the novel to find out. Some interesting things happen in this novel. Kate now works for herself and has new helpers.

The sex scenes were fantastic. I love how they were describe and the emotion that is in them. Curran is still in my top 10 fictional male leads. He is a great character that really balances Kate. They are an interesting couple.

Overall, I give this novel 5 out 5. Simply a joy to read. I love the humor that comes into play during the dark times to alleviate the pain parts. I can not wait for the sixth book. It is already out, now I just have to go out and find it. Wish me luck.
