Rafe is such a great character. I loved seeing Rafe again after briefly seeing him in Ryan’s story. Here is a brief background on the novel: As a very successful private investigator who has caught most of the cheaters in Seattle with their pants down, Rafe Sullivan believes true, lasting love only happens once in a blue moon. Needing to get away from the city to clear his head, he finds the lake house where he spent the best summers of his life is now a wreck…but the sweet girl next door is all grown up and prettier than anything he’s ever seen.
While Brooke Jansen is happy making and selling chocolate truffles in her small Pacific Northwest lake town, she secretly longs to experience something wild. So when her favorite “Wild Sullivan” moves in again next door after more than a decade away, and sparks fly between them, she can’t stop wondering if being bad is really as good as it always seemed…and just how long it will be before she can find out.
But when their summer fling quickly spirals into deeper emotions than either of them were expecting, can they survive the heat between them? Or will Rafe make the biggest mistake of his life and end up losing the best thing that’s ever happened to him?
Rafe was the one male character that I simply loved to read. He was so stubborn that you couldn’t help but love him. It was the same for Brooke. She was just so passionate about her life, so honest and open. She was, of course, a contrast to Rafe and really brought the light back into his life. I wanted more conflict or at least a long conflict. I always want to tell authors that it is completely okay to prolong the conflict a bit longer to the point where you don’t believe they will make, but deep down you know they will. That’s usually what is missing from romance novels. You need to have that moment where they risk everything and a few breathless moments where you think they will not work it out, then find out that they do. I felt that in this story that moment should have lasted longer. Other than that, I thought it was a great storyline. The hardest thing to do in a relationship is trust. The essence of every story.
The sex scenes were great and Kinky (read the book, you’ll get that). It was so passionate and completely hot. Even chocolate will melt on that man’s abs. The sex was great and filled with love, even if the characters did not know it. I love how they fell in love, slowly and then all at once. It was quick after the initial fall, the first moment they sleep together. Simply perfect.
Overall, I give this novel a 5 out 5. I loved the story and could not get enough. I want more. I need more books! I hate having to wait for my paycheck to come in order to get more books. Ugh! Oh, well at least I have novels to look forward to. I am officially done with school for the semester and am looking forward to challenging myself to read as many books as possible. My last years achievement was 30 novels. I am going to try to beat that goal. Wish me luck! Until next time….
