OMG! I really love Shelly Laurenston/ G.A. Aiken ‘s writing. When writing about predators you really have to make them ridiculous and funny. That is what I love about her writing especially in her dragon series. Here is the background of this novel provided by Goodreads: I know what they see when they look at me. The charming, soft-spoken dragoness bred from the most powerful of royal bloodlines. A disguise strong than any battle shield that allows me to keep all suitors at tail’s length. A technique that’s worked until him. Until Ragnar the Cunning, handsome barbarian warlord and warrior mage from the desolate Northlands. Unlike those who’ve come before him, he does not simply submit to my astounding charm and devastating smile. Instead he dismisses me as vapid, useless and, to my great annoyance, rather stupid.
Yet I’ll allow no male to dismiss me. Soon he’ll learn my worth, my many skills, and the strength of my will. For this one challenges me enough to make me want to ruthlessly taunt him, tease him and, finally, when the trap is set, bring him to his knees.
SO as you can see by the background that it really shows the personality of the main character Keita. Keita is a dragoness and is really over the top with her performance (and really she is a performer). She performs for everyone, the world is her stage. The dynamic between Keita and Ragnar was a bit surprising considering how their relationship ended in the last novel. It was super fun to see that Ragnar did care for Keita’s performances. Their relationship is just a joy to read about. Personally, I do not care for Keita (she’s a bit too melodramatic for my preference), however I thought this story was written well. I enjoyed reading about the other characters. Annwyl and Fearghus make a special appearance as well as all the other brothers and sisters of Keita.
As for the sex, wowza! The fire and passion coming from these two characters was enough to melt the north pole. The steamy, sex scenes were written really well, all full of sex, laughter, compassion, heat, and chemistry. I can really read this one over and over again, just all the rest in this series.
Overall I give this novel 5 out 5 stars. It was not my favorite out of the series but i did enjoy it. If you liked this novel please read the rest in this series. If you have finished this series make sure to read her other series starting with Mane Event. If you do enjoy reading about the paranormal then please read my other reviews under Modern Romance.
