Lori Foster has done it again. She made a series that I absolutely love! With each new novel I’m loving the hero usually i have a favorite but in this series I cannot decide with guy I like more. This is something I will really need to think more about. Anyways… Here is the background on this novel provided by Goodreads: Charismatic bar owner Rowdy Yates isn’t the kind of man women say no to. So when he approaches waitress Avery Mullins, he fully expects to get her number. However, the elusive beauty has her reasons for keeping her distance—including a past that might come back to haunt them both.
Avery spends her nights working for tips… and trying to forget the secret Rowdy is determined to unearth. But when history threatens to repeat itself, Avery grows to rely on Rowdy’s protective presence. As the sparks between them ignite, she will be forced to choose between the security she’s finally found… and the passion she’s always wanted…
So as a reader, we were first introduced to Avery in the second novel Bare It All, the story about Reese and Alice (Aww Alice). I knew there was something that was going to happen simple because the Bare It All novel you could see the sexual tension flickers off their words. In this novel it was great to see why Avery has her guard up. I thought this story was interesting and I did not see the twist at the end (and really isn’t that a good thing?). I thought the progression of the novel was great and well spaced. What I mean is that sometimes a novel can just skip straight to the sex and have no build up. This novel builds up the tension until you are begging for them to get together. I loved the introduction of the new characters i.e. Cannon. I think his story will be great to read about. I thought the reoccurrence of the past characters were a great addition and did not take over the story line and simply added to it. The story felt real and livable. The writing was very organic and simply. I kept wanting to skip ahead to find out what is happening next.
As for the sex, give me a minute to dose myself with water. The scenes were great and steamy, filled with all the necessary details that make reading romance a joy. But let’s not count out the emotional connection between Rowdy and Avery. I thought the progression of their relationship was great to see and the sex they had… yum!
Overall, I give this novel 5 out of 5 kitties! (Yes, Kitties because kitties are awesome and cute and everybody cant help but want one just like this novel). If you like the writing style of Lori Foster I recommend you read her other series especially the SBC fighters and Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor. Both are great series with great men. Now if only I could find one of those men in real life. Why must you tempt me? Don’t forget that The next novel in this series Dash of Peril will be released next year so please be on the look out for that! Enjoy these smutty, smutty books!
