Midnight in Death book 7.5 In Death Series

Midnight-in-Death

Midnight in Death is part of anthology, but picks up the storyline where book 7 ends. Here is a brief summary: Eve’s name has made a Christmas list, but it’s not for being naughty or nice.  It’s for putting a serial killer behind bars.  Now the escaped madman has her in his sights.  With her husband, Roarke, at her side, Eve must stop the man from exacting his bloody vengeance—or die trying…

This novella starts with the knowledge of who the killer is but the first body. There is no mystery here. Since this was an anthology, there was really not enough time to devote to an actual mystery. It was more of Eve’s past arrest’s coming back to haunt her. It was good in the sense that it was written well. Although I do have to admit I felt a bit disappointed by the lack of information in this novella. I wanted to know more about the original murders and the killer. This novel was brief and to the point. There was no excess romance in this novel and didn’t really have any sex scenes included. I almost felt cheated, but really it just makes me want to read book 8 all the more.

Overall, I give this anthology 4 out of 5 stars. It was still good, but I really enjoy the actual novels better. If you enjoyed this novel continue reading. Also if you enjoy crime/ drama/ mystery Jami Alden’s novels follow the same line. I recommend Beg of Mercy or even Caught.
