Beast Behaving Badly (pride 5)

This is another of the Pride series written by Shelly Laurenston. I love this novel as much as I love Gwen’s story. You remember Blayne from my last post? Well this book is all about her and her superstar hockey player. Here is the background on this novel provided by Goodreads:  Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can’t get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he’s shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is…
Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it’s good advice, but he can’t leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness — or his hunch that there’s more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn’t yet begun to fathom — much as he’d like to. She may insist Bo’s nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she’ll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it’ll be worth the wait…

I love Blayne and the way her brain works. She is really a character I thought I would never like but ended up liking away. Some characters just have that effect and Blayne is one of them. I thought it was an interesting pairing that should really not work. An obsessive- compulsive hybrid bearcat that needs things orderly and punctual paired up with a dysfunctional, chaos promoting, never on time, wolfdog. These two just seem like an unlikely pairing, but if it works than it works. Mitch makes an appearance again. He gets funnier and funnier as I see him interact with the other characters. I like the fact that we get to know more about Blayne. My absolute favorite thing Blayne says to Bo is that he will not take her alive to his dungeon of pain and torture. (or something to that effect). When her mind goes there, it really goes there. She is very entertaining to the storyline.I also thought it was an interesting story arc about the fighting hybrids and made the story interesting. There was a definite change from the earlier novel where it was more focused on the couples rather than a suspenseful side story. I enjoyed either way.

As for the sex… Wowza! Amazing. I never saw it coming, but the sex scenes were steamy, creative, and very much filled with passion and romance. I never would have guessed from Bo. He comes off as such an asshole around the other characters, but when it switches to his perspective you can’t help by fall a little bit in love with him. That’s what makes the scenes more creative and exciting.

Overall, I give this novel 5 out 5. I really couldn’t give it anything less. I simply enjoy re-reading this novel. I have no found another series that I enjoy so much that deals with the paranormal. If any of you have any suggestions, I am always looking for new books to read. I have no idea what I’m going to read next, so stat tuned.
